Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!

Football updates

  • I believe this was mentioned earlier this week, but the recruitment of 2021 4-star S Hunter Wohler (Muskego) is going to be hotly contested.

The Michigan offer is on the heels of LSU reaching out to him earlier in the week and is right before Wohler heads to South Bend to visit Notre Dame. Those are all big time schools! Wisconsin would do well to try and wrap this recruitment up ASAP.

  • 2021 4-star DE Shemar Turner (DeSoto, Texas) received an offer from the Badgers earlier this week.

Turner is a 6-foot-4 and weighs 260 pounds and looks like he could start for a B1G team yesterday. You may recognize his hometown as it also where current star ILB Chris Orr hails from.

Turner has a boatload of offers already including: Texas, Texas A&M, TCU, SMU, Baylor, Minnesota, Oregon, Arizona State, Kansas State, Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Illinois, Oklahoma State and others.

It doesn’t appear that Turner has a list of favorite schools yet, but he has been making the rounds and visiting all of the Texas schools that have been recruiting him. This would seem to be a case of needing to get Turner on campus in Madison for the Badgers to have any chance of getting him to head north.

Basketball updates

  • Just in case you thought Greg Gard and Joe Krabbenhoft were liars and didn’t go to visit Chucky Hepburn this week.
