Badgers fall to No. 19 in latest FanPulse Poll + a new No. 1!

It’s been a forgetful few weeks for Wisconsin football as the Badgers were bludgeoned by the force of the Ohio State Buckeyes last Saturday after losing to Illinois the week before. That makes it back to back losses for the Badgers for the first time since 2016. Now they return to the comforts of Madison, Wisconsin for a bye week before taking on the Iowa Hawkeyes at Camp Randall Stadium.

Iowa remains in the rankings as well, coming in at No. 25 in this week’s FanPulse release. In addition to the Hawkeyes, the Big Ten had teams littered all over the rankings. Leading the way of course is the Ohio State Buckeyes who are listed at No. 3. After that, the Penn State Nittany Lions clawed into the top five, ranking No. 5 in this week’s release. The Nittany Lions next opponent are also in the Top 25, as the undefeated Minnesota Golden Gophers rank No. 13 in this week’s poll. The Michigan Wolverines also hopped the Badgers this week after their impressive 45-14 win over No. 8 Notre Dame on Saturday.

Outside of the Big Ten there was plenty of shake up in the polls as well, including a new top team. The LSU Tigers hopped rival Alabama after their impressive win over the Auburn Tigers. Both teams are off this weekend, which should set up the first “Game of the Century” the following Saturday. Game of the Century refers to games in which the AP’s top two teams square off in the regular season. The last time this happened was in 2011 and featured the same two teams as No. 1 LSU took down No. 2 Alabama 9-6.

In addition to the new poll release, this week’s poll question was what surprised you the viewer most last Saturday. The overwhelming winner was Kansas State’s dominating win over Oklahoma. The Wildcats upset received 57% of the vote. The second biggest surprise was Michigan’s dominating win over previously ranked top ten Notre Dame.

Dramatic upsets, playoff elimination games, and top ranked match ups are all over the board in the coming weeks.
