B5Q Blogopean Union: IT’S A GREAT DAY FOR HOCKEY!

Plus: new goalie helmets; Jack Coan completes a lot of passes; Dani Rhodes and the soccer team come back to draw Iowa.

Good morning! This is going to be a daily(ish) post that discusses the goings on of the rest of the Big Ten Conference, and the country as needed. Much like the European Union, the Big Ten is a loosely confederated group of entities that sometimes have the same goals (like free movement of people between countries or not winning national titles in football or basketball) and sometimes accept new members that they later regret (Estonia or Rutgers).

We hope that you will use this post to comment on things happening around the conference and also as a sort of daily open thread to discuss breaking news or argue about Spotted Cow.

  • The Badgers are doing pretty well on the ol’ gridiron, wouldn’t you say?
  • Honestly, just about every team in the whole damn athletic department is doing pretty well, wouldn’t you say?
  • The interior of the Kohl Center is being redecorated before the men’s hockey home opener Friday night against Minnesota Duluth.
  • The goalies also had a little redecorating done of their...head exterior protector? Whatever, you know what I mean.
  • Jonathan Taylor has been making the national rounds this week, hasn’t he?
  • Jacky Heisman is really making his case.
  • Looks like all the good home games for the men’s basketball team are close to being sold out.
  • Better than losing to Iowa I suppose.
  • The weekly hype videos for the football team are always filled with hoary sentiments meant to tug at the heart strings and thin...you know what, I’m just going to skip to the nice things I have to say. These are wonderfully produced and I enjoy watching them.
