UW-Milwaukee

Nickname: Panthers

Conference: Horizon League

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Website: https://mkepanthers.com/index.aspx?path=mbball

Head Coach: Pat Baldwin, third season

2018-19 record: 9-22 (4-14 Horizon League)

Last time in NCAA Tournament: 2014 season, lost in first round

Top three returning scorers: Darius Roy, senior, guard, 15.8ppg; DeAndre Abram, senior, guard/forward, 12.1ppg; Amir Allen, junior, forward, 6.1ppg.

Key losses: Vance Johnson, forward, 10.1ppg, 5.5rpg, graduated.

Jake Wright, guard, 9.3ppg, 94% free throw percentage, graduated.

Carson Warren-Newsome, guard, 9ppg, 3.8rpg, transferred.

Exciting newcomer: Te’Jon Lucas, junior, guard, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After playing as a freshman and sophomore at Illinois, Lucas decided to transfer to the Panthers to be closer to home. The junior guard is a great defender and is very skilled. He should see the floor immediately for UW-Milwaukee, and he will definitely elevate the talent level of the team.

Date of game: Saturday, December 21st, 4pm

Location: Kohl Center, Madison, Wisconsin

Preview: Te’Jon Lucas should be a big boost for the Panther team. Pair him with seniors Darius Roy and DeAndre Abram, and UW-Milwaukee should be better. Last season was a nightmare for head coach Pat Baldwin, but the team is a year older and has added another veteran guard.

The Panthers are projected to finish seventh in the Horizon League according to preseason polls. After only winning four games a year ago there is nowhere to go but up. I would not be surprised to see UW-Milwaukee finish higher in the conference race due to some more experience, but I still don’t see them being much of a challenge for Wisconsin.

Prediction: Wisconsin 81 - 64
