Wisconsin drops out of the AP Top 25 poll

Badgers take on Purdue at home on Friday.

Previously No. 22 last week, the Wisconsin Badgers dropped out of the latest AP Top 25 poll that was released on Monday.

Wisconsin (11-4, 3-1 Big Ten) lost to Minnesota at the Kohl Center on Jan. 3 but rebounded to blowout Penn State on the road on Sunday night. The win in State College was apparently not enough to sway AP voters to keep the Badgers in this week’s poll, however.

Michigan (No. 2), Michigan State (No. 6), Ohio State (No. 16) and Indiana (No. 22) represent the Big Ten currently in the poll, with Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue, Nebraska and Maryland all receiving votes this week.

KenPom currently ranks Wisconsin as the No. 15 team in the nation. As of Jan. 5, NCAA’s NET rankings designated UW as No. 21.

This week, the Badgers welcome unranked Purdue to the Kohl Center for some Friday night basketball action (8 p.m. CT, FS1).
