Wisconsin men’s hockey falls to Denver 6-3

The Pioneers scored four in the third to upend the Badgers.

Wisconsin men’s hockey lost to No. 8 Denver 6-3 on Friday at the Kohl Center.

Tied 2-2 entering the final period, the Pioneers put the Badgers away with four goals in the third, including two tallies within 20 seconds of each other by Tyler Ward and Kohen Olischefski.

Tyler Inamoto, Seamus Malone, and Will Johnson all scored for the Badgers. Goalkeeper Daniel Lebedeff’s run of strong play came to an end as the freshman allowed five goals on 32 shots.

Wisconsin was without standout freshman defenseman K’Andre Miller, who has been called up to the U.S. Junior National Team for the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Wisconsin (8-8-3-0, 4-3-3-0 Big Ten) and Denver run it back on Saturday. Puck drops at 7 p.m. CT at the Kohl Center.
