Before he heads to Madison, four-star Wisconsin signee Graham Mertz will participate in the 2019 All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Tex., on Jan. 5.
This is the event that one of the top pro-style quarterbacks in the nation has looked forward to, as he told B5Q earlier in December.
“That was a thing since first grade, second grade. I’ve always been watching that game every year,” Mertz said. “It was crazy when I got the call this year, and it was definitely flattering and I can’t wait for it. It’ll be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and it’ll be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I’ll be able to have forever, which I can’t wait for.”
Joining Mertz in action down in the Lone Star State will be fellow Wisconsin commit and five-star offensive lineman Logan Brown. Practices kicked up starting on Tuesday, and of course, there are some video highlights of the heralded quarterback from those media in attendance.

247Sports’s Steve Wiltfong also spoke with Brown in an article that was published on Dec. 31.
The 2019 All-American Bowl will be played inside the Alamodome on Saturday (Noon CT, NBC). Brown will line up for the West squad, while Mertz will take snaps with the East team.
In another prep all-star extravaganza, 2019 Wisconsin signee Blake Wilcox will play in the Under Armour All-American Game on Jan. 3 in Orlando (ESPN2). SB Nation’s Bud Elliott caught up with Wilcox on Dec. 29, and we will have the article up on B5Q later this week prior to the game.
