No. 6 Wisconsin volleyball is back to its winning ways.

After suffering their first loss of the season last weekend at Baylor, the Badgers (7-1) have now won three straight, following their victory last weekend over North Texas by sweeping No. 21 Marquette 25-23, 25-14, 25-15 on Friday and defeating Illinois State 22-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-15 on Saturday to win the Marquette Invitational in Milwaukee.

In Friday’s victory over Marquette, Wisconsin hit .330 for the match, despite a .146 first set. Redshirt junior outside hitter Madison Duello led the way with 14 kills.

Sophomore middle blocker Dana Rettke had eight blocks as the Badgers stiffed Marquette, holding the Golden Eagles to just .118 for the match. Sophomore setter Sydney Hilley had 35 assists.

Friday’s victory improves the Badgers’ record against the Golden Eagles to 20-0. It was Wisconsin’s second straight sweep of Marquette, following last year’s first-round NCAA tournament victory.

Saturday, the Badgers overcame a slow start to take down Illinois State 22-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-15. The Badgers’ defense took over in the second set, holding the Cardinals to -.139. For the match, Illinois State hit just .097.

Rettke led the way, hitting .500 for the match with 16 kills and seven blocks. Hilley hit .500 with 40 assists.

Wisconsin starts conference play on Wednesday night against Ohio State at the Field House. The match starts at 6 p.m. ET.
