The Big Ten Conference announced on Monday morning that Wisconsin Badgers running back Jonathan Taylor was its Offensive Player of the Week after a career-high performance.
Taylor rushed for 253 yards on 33 carries with three touchdowns in Wisconsin’s 45–14 win over New Mexico on Saturday.
The sophomore’s back performance was the eighth time in Wisconsin history that a Badger ran for 250 yards or more in a game, with Taylor being the first since Melvin Gordon did so in the 2015 Outback Bowl.
The Heisman hopeful has now ran for 100 yards or more in 12 of his 16 career games. Within those performances, he has also gone over 150 yards six times and 200 yards in four games.
It is the first weekly honor for Taylor this season.
