2019 Wisconsin target Spencer Lytle to declare college decision on Saturday

Something to watch on Saturday.

Saturday could bring good news for the Wisconsin Badgers on the recruiting front, as Bellflower, Calif. (St. John Bosco) prospect Spencer Lytle will announce his college commitment at 1 p.m. PT (3 p.m. CT).

247Sports, Rivals and ESPN all rate Lytle as a high three-star prospect and project him to be an outside linebacker at the collegiate level.

247Sports composite rankings designate him as the No. 28 outside linebacker in the nation for the class of 2019. He also recently claimed the honor of being named to the 2018 Butkus Award high school watch list.

Lytle officially visited Madison on the weekend of June 8, the same weekend as current uncommitted lineman Bryce Benhart, along with a long list of UW commits that included Graham Mertz, Logan Brown, Hayden Rucci, Keeanu Benton, Marcus Graham and Joe Tippmann.

After his visit to Wisconsin, Lytle told B5Q that the Badgers and Clemson were his top schools while also noting the trip “confirmed” why he placed UW so highly:

“Coaches, support staff and players are what stood out the most,” Lytle told B5Q while traveling on Sunday night. “Also, [the] great education, and they always put players into the league [NFL]. Twenty-one winning seasons in the last 22 is matched by very few programs.”

For what it’s worth, 247Sports crystal ball predictions currently have Wisconsin as the favorite to land the California prospect. A couple of Wisconsin commits publicly chimed in on Twitter Friday afternoon regarding his potential decision:
