It is now officially game week for the Wisconsin Badgers as they prepare to face Western Kentucky on Friday.
Already, we’ve covered Sunday’s press conference and published the injury report and depth chart that were released earlier today. Needless to say, we’ll have much more to come throughout the week.
For what it’s worth, I still plan on having our standard B5Q5Q up the day after the game has been played, showcasing game balls, plays of the game, and other observations.
But first and foremost...
...a very special announcement
If you haven’t heard about one of the newest restaurants in Madison, you will now. Bierock recently opened to some rave reviews, including one recently seen in the Wisconsin State Journal. The combination of these delightful savory pastries and intriguing beer options make this a unique and fulfilling experience. I mean, even Barry Alvarez stopped over there.

For those in the Madison area, the hoppin’ place is located on the northeast side of town right by Warner Park (2911 Sherman Ave. Madison, WI 53704).
So why are we promoting this on B5Q5Q?
First, Amanda and Brian Carriveau are the great people who own Bierock, and we love it when people in our community start an amazing journey. I actually met Brian while co-hosting the Kielbasa Kings Sports Extravaganza years ago, as he hosts a Green Bay Packers-centric podcast called Railbird Central.
Second, ***OK, NOW IT’S ANNOUNCEMENT TIME***
Brian pinged me a few weeks ago, telling me to pop over to talk about an idea he had. Fast forward to now, and we are extremely excited to reveal that we’ll be hosting a form of Bucky’s 5th Podcast at Bierock every Tuesday night starting Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. CT.
We’re still finalizing details, but we will likely have two podcasts each week. One will be for instant analysis and player interviews post-game, and then this Tuesday show will be 30–45 minutes like our normal podcasts.
The cool thing here is for those whose personal Venn diagram crosses over Badgers and Packers fandoms, he will live broadcast Railbird Central immediately after from 8–9 p.m. CT.
Brian is a proud UW-Madison alum, and we are extremely thankful for the opportunity to bring B5Q out into the Madison community. This has been a personal goal of mine, to do something in this capacity. More to come on guests and interactive segments as we draw closer to the post-Labor Day launch!
Some love from Sports Illustrated and tailgating
Before that, however, we want to ask you, our loyal and amazing readers, a question. On Friday, Sports Illustrated published an article showcasing a guide to college football tailgating (and they asked me to answer some questions). Being honest, I jumped at the chance because I grew up reading and subscribing to SI (and also Sports Illustrated for Kids, for that matter), so that was admittedly cool.
But we here at B5Q also want to talk tailgating. I will be downtown prior to games, and I want to see where you go and what you do (if y’all are willing). Do you tailgate at your own little get together in firing up the grill and downing Bloody Marys?? Are you going to the Red Zone for its “The Zone Blitz Pre-Game Bash” with the WOZN gang? Maybe Jordan’s Big 10 Pub?
We established our Instagram account earlier this spring, and we would love to 1. Meet you and, 2. See how you tailgate. Please let us know if you’re around Friday night, as I plan on being downtown by 4:30 p.m. CT. Meet up, say hi, talk Badgers!
