Wisconsin Badgers sophomore running back Jonathan Taylor claimed another accolade on Wednesday, as he was unsurprisingly named a preseason nominee for the Doak Walker Award.
According to the press release, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum discloses the candidates for the award, which is given to “nation’s top college running back.”
After rushing for 1,977 yards and 13 touchdowns as a freshman on his way to a long list of honors (All-American and consensus first-team All-Big Ten among them), Taylor was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award last season. The award eventually went to Stanford’s Bryce Love, who is again under consideration for 2018 as well.
Also according to the press release, “University athletic departments nominate candidates for the award and can continue to do so through October.”
This is Taylor’s second preseason honor this week, as he was named to the Maxwell Award watch list on Monday.
