While the Wisconsin Badgers added to its roster earlier this week, that player will not be Rice forward Malik Osborne, who announced via Twitter he will transfer to Florida State on Tuesday.
Obsorne, a Matteson, Ill., native, tweeted on May 3 that Wisconsin had offered and visited earlier this month. The same week UW offered, Florida State did as well.
In his one year at Rice, Osborne averaged nine points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a freshman during the 2017–18 season. The 6’8, 200-pound forward played in 31 games with 27 starts for the Owls, averaging 27.1 minutes per game while recording three double-doubles. He also led the team in blocks (24) and successfully converted 64.3 percent of his free throws.
Excited and grateful to announce that I will be committing to Florida State University. Completely thankful for this opportunity and unbelievably blessed to have a supportive family and supportive friends. #GoNoles pic.twitter.com/NmbJjn1MQR
