Redshirt junior Alex Hornibrook will start at quarterback for Wisconsin on Saturday against Minnesota.

ESPN’s Olivia Dekker reported the news on Saturday, and B5Q confirmed with a UW official that the southpaw will start against the Gophers (2:30 p.m. CT, ESPN2).

This will be Hornibrook’s first action since Wisconsin’s 31-17 win at home against Rutgers on Nov. 3 after exiting that contest with a head injury.

Second-year quarterback Jack Coan took over and led the offense to three touchdowns in the second half, and has started games at Penn State and Purdue since.

Through eight starts, Hornibrook has completed 58.14 percent of his passes for 1,343 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

In four games played in place of Hornibrook, Coan has completed 60.98 percent of his throws for 442 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions.
