Wisconsin fans are dying for a national champion.
Morgan McDonald delivered.
On a snowy Saturday afternoon at Wisconsin’s Zimmer Championship Course in front of a huge crowd, senior cross country star Morgan McDonald burst away from the pack in the final 400 meters to win the title. McDonald’s national title is his third championship of the season, as he won the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational and the Big Ten championship.

“Down the the homestretch and throughout the whole race I can’t even tell you how crazy it was,” McDonald said.
“The whole race on either side was packed with Badgers fans just yelling out my name and supporting the Badgers. It was really amazing! I felt it the whole way.”
The men’s cross country team finished eighth overall and the women’s team finished 10th. Wisconsin’s Alicia Monson finished fourth in the women’s 6k in 19:55.2 as UW’s top performer.
