The Wisconsin Badgers appear to be targeting an Illinois linebacker recruit, as 2019 Lincolnshire, Ill. (Adlai Stevenson) prospect Maema Njongmeta tweeted on Tuesday night that he received an offer from UW.
Rivals rates Njongmeta as a three-star inside linebacker, with 247Sports composite rankings designating him as a two-star outside linebacker.
247Sports lists 19 offers for Njongmeta, including from Iowa State, Northern Illinois, Army, Bowling Green, and some Ivy League schools.
Njongmeta’s Hudl film shows a linebacker who is not afraid to hit—one who pursues quickly and with a burst to get into the backfield to make plays. According to his senior highlights, he tallied 131 tackles—23 for loss—along with 10 sacks, eight quarterback hurries, and two forced fumbles.
For what it’s worth, both recruiting services predict some good news for Wisconsin, and Njongmeta also has his announced offer as his pinned tweet on his Twitter profile.
He visited UW earlier this month for the Nebraska game as well.
