Wisconsin basketball recruiting: Badgers offer 2018 PG Xavier Pinson

The Badgers look for help in Chicagoland.

Following a night when Badger basketball might have possibly found rock bottom on the season, there’s a possibility of hope on the horizon. This week, the Badgers made a formal offer to Chicago (Simeon) 2018 point guard Xavier Pinson.

Pinson, who was on campus for the Nebraska game, is a fast-rising senior on the national stage with a game that provides a very exciting skill set. He has the vision to distribute in some spectacular fashion, especially in the transition game. Add to that an ability to get to the rim one-on-one and a consistent mid-range jumper with the ability to get hot from beyond the arc? You have someone who’s ready to jump-start an offense from the day he steps on campus.

Between Pinson and UW, the interest is definitely mutual. The former Kent State commit will be spending this weekend in Missouri, but has set up an official visit for Wisconsin’s game vs. Michigan on Feb. 10 when the Wolverines comes to Madison. There’s still the possibility of a third official visit on the weekend of the 17th to another school before his planned Feb. 22 commitment date, but Wisconsin definitely can land a very exciting prospect to close out the class of 2018 if it can earn Pinson’s commitment.
