Wisconsin football recruiting: 2019 S Bryson Shaw commits to Badgers

A fast, projected defensive back verbally pledges to the Badgers

The Wisconsin Badgers’ class of 2019 added another standout on Saturday night.

Potomac, Md. (The Bullis School), recruit Bryson Shaw announced on Twitter that he verbally committed to Wisconsin.

Shaw is rated as a three-star recruit at safety by both 247Sports’ composite rankings and Rivals. According to 247Sports, he holds offers from Maryland, Duke, Rutgers, Virginia, Wake Forest, Syracuse and West Virginia. Rivals also shows offers from Northwestern, Pitt, North Carolina and Boston College.

As Land of 10’s Jesse Temple and the Carroll County Times noted previously, Shaw committed to play lacrosse at Maryland and is one of the best prep prospects in that sport by Recruiting Rundown.

What immediately stands out on Shaw’s Hudl film is his speed. On the first highlight, he intercepts a pass and seamlessly zips past both teammates and defenders on way to the end zone. Though many of the big plays are on offense, you can see that closing speed and ability to lock down on the defensive side of the ball as well.

Shaw is verbal commit No. 6 for Wisconsin in what is shaping up to be a highly intriguing class of 2019, joining the likes of Grantsburg, Wis., athlete Leo Chenal, four-star, Kansas quarterback Graham Mertz, four-star offensive lineman Logan Brown, Menomonee Falls, Wis., running back Julius Davis and offensive lineman Joe Tippmann.
