Badgers look to upend top 5 Purdue.

After another disappointing loss on the road, the Badgers will look to bounce back in a big way, the Badgers will travel to Mackey Arena to take on the top 5 ranked Purdue Boilermakers. This will be a very tough road challenge for the Badgers.

Purdue is coming off an impressive road victory, on Tuesday night Purdue was able to pick up a victory @ Michigan. The Boilermakers were able to control the game for most of the night, but a late run by the Wolverines made things interesting. A Zavier Simpson 3 point shot gave Michigan a 3 point lead with just over 4 minutes to play in the second half. Purdue was able to stay poised and tie the game at 69 with two minutes left. After a Michigan foul; big man Isaac Haas was able was able to make the eventual game-clinching free throw. Giving Purdue the victory.

In the past Purdue has been a team that will not wow you with their scoring ability. Purdue teams have always hung their hat on the defensive side of the ball. That has not changed this season, but was has changed is Purdue’s ability to score the basketball. As of now, Purdue is scoring 85.3 ppg; that ranks 22nd in the country. This improvement can be credited to point guard Carsen Edwards.

The Boilermakers are lead by sophomore point guard Carsen Edwards; Edwards has had a perpetual season. Edwards is leading his team in scoring, Carsen is averaging around 17 points per competition. The undersized point guard is slowly getting more recognition for what he is doing. Edwards is certainly one of the most underrated guards in the nation. Expect Brad Davison to be shadowing Edwards throughout the whole game. It will be very fun to see how the two young guards play vs each other.

Purdue and Wisconsin are programs that both have had a rich history of success at the center position. This will not change in this matchup. Both the Badgers and Boilermakers boast tremendous big men. Isaac Haas and Ethan Happ will be a very fun matchup to watch in this game. Both Big men rank among the best post players in the nation. Happ who has struggled in the last two games will need to play better for the Badgers to have a chance to upset Purdue.

This will be another very tough game for the Badgers to win, but if the Badgers want to make the NCAA tournament for the 20th consecutive year they must win games like this.
