Another Badgers team, another victory over Minnesota.
No. 9 Wisconsin women’s soccer (7–1) got Big Ten play started right on Saturday at the McClimon Track/Soccer Complex in Madison, knocking off the Golden Gophers 1–0 in overtime.
Sophomore forward Dani Rhodes scored the game-winner, notching a penalty six minutes into overtime. It was her fifth goal on the year and second overtime winner in two years against the Gophers.
The Badgers poured it on the Gophers, out-shooting Minnesota 19–6, but only managed to put five on goal. In the end, Rhodes’s penalty was the only shot that mattered.
Redshirt senior goaltender Caitlyn Clem pitched her fifth shutout of the year, making four saves on the day.
