The Wisconsin Badgers’ class of 2018 is a little smaller now that a top verbal commit reportedly has elected not to play college football.
Menasha, Wis., safety Trent Ingalls has decommitted from Wisconsin, Spectrum Sports reporter JP Cadorin reported on Thursday. According to Cadorin, the in-state prospect “said other things became more important, like enjoying high school football and eventually enjoying college.”

BadgerNation.com’s Ben Worgull reported on Thursday that Ingalls and UW “decided to mutually part ways,” according to a source, after the high school senior remained uncertain of his future plans while the program wanted the all-state player to “reaffirm his commitment.”
Ingalls, a three-star recruit per 247Sports, Rivals, and Scout, was the second verbal commit for Wisconsin’s class of 2018 back in late October 2016. Wisconsin now holds 18 players in the next recruiting cycle.
