Another prep standout from Michigan will head west to Wisconsin.

Gibraltar, Mich. (Oscar A. Carlson), athlete Jaylan Franklin verbally committed to the Wisconsin Badgers on Monday. He announced his decision via Twitter.

A three-star recruit according to 247Sports, Rivals and Scout, Franklin is listed at 6’4 and between 192 and 200 pounds by the recruiting services. All three reported previously that he is being recruited as a tight end by the Badgers’ coaching staff.

Franklin also held offers from Northwestern, Michigan State, Minnesota, Pitt, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Kentucky, among others.

Wisconsin offered Franklin back in mid-April, something BadgerBlitz.com’s Jon McNamara reported as a “game changer” after Franklin visited Madison. The Michigan recruit announced on Twitter later that month a top five of the Badgers, Wildcats, Spartans, Commodores, and Panthers.

Most recently, Franklin visited Madison on Friday this past week with a group of Michigan prospects that included Wisconsin verbal commits Reggie Pearson and Michael Furtney, along with another undecided Michigan recruit in wide receiver Taj Mustapha.

BadgerBlitz.com’s Jon McNamara reported last weekend that Franklin was “down to two schools and a decision could come at any minute” as he was “contemplating his next move” ($).

The athletic Franklin told Badger247’s Evan Flood it was a “pretty big day” ($).

Franklin’s junior highlights showcase a multi-faceted athlete playing both outside linebacker and quarterback. He has the frame to play out on the edge and displayed the speed to cause distress in the offensive backfield. On the opposite side of the ball, he can make plays through the air and on the run.

Franklin is the 12th verbal commit for Wisconsin’s class of 2018 and the third from the state of Michigan, joining Pearson and Furtney. He’s the second in three days, with Austin, Tex. (Westlake) tailback Nakia Watson announcing his decision to play for the Badgers on Saturday.
