Wisconsin celebrates 100 years of Camp Randall Stadium

There’s no place like it.

Wisconsin athletic communications

We’re already counting down the days until college football returns to our hearts, minds, and media for the 2017 season. So are the Wisconsin Badgers.

UW kicked off its Camp Randall 100 celebration on Wednesday. It includes athletics director Barry Alvarez honoring former All-American, College Football Hall of Famer, and athletics director Pat Richter as the first individual in this series.

One hundred people, compiled by a panel of Wisconsin athletic administrators and several longtime Madison media members, will be unveiled—one per day—leading up to UW’s 2017 college football season opener against Utah State on Sept. 1. Each member played a role in molding the first 100 years of what has become a beloved stadium where over 80,000 fans gather for home games each season.

Wisconsin also debuted in conjunction with the celebration. The website launched on Wednesday and is “dedicated to celebrating the first 100 years of Camp Randall Stadium,” per a release from UW. Check out the stories, videos, and timeline of the facility’s history. Among other features on the site will be fan-submitted memories.

Perhaps the coolest part of the celebration: UW announced each home game ticket for the 2017 season will be based on a program cover from a previous game in history, as seen below.

Below is more information from UW.
