In recent seasons, the Wisconsin Badgers have found themselves moving into Illinois and finding success in grabbing talented prospects. On Wednesday, the Badgers earned themselves a potentially massive commitment in 247Sports composite four-star inside linebacker Jack Sanborn.
The 6’1, 210-pound Sanborn announced his decision via Twitter, with 247Sports first reporting the decision.
Sanborn is a highly active, sideline-to-sideline presence for Lake Zurich High School in Lake Zurich, Ill. The Hudl tape above shows someone who has comfort in playing downhill against the run and playing laterally in space. He can also fight off a block and make the play through the trash. In short, at his peak he looks like he deserves every last ounce of that star pedigree—and there should be an opening for Sanborn to start as a redshirt freshman for Wisconsin considering it.

Sanborn had offers from Duke, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Vanderbilt, among others, according to 247Sports. He joins Lyons Township quarterback Ben Bryant as Wisconsin commits from the Land of Lincoln for the class of 2018, and is the eighth known verbal commitment for head coach Paul Chryst in this recruiting cycle.
