The Wisconsin Badgers are a No. 8 seed in the 2017 NCAA tournament, the selection committee revealed Sunday.
Slotted in the East Region, Wisconsin (25-9, 12-6 Big Ten) will face the No. 9 Virginia Tech Hokies (22-10, 10-8 ACC) on Thursday in Buffalo, N.Y. Tip-off is set for approximately 8:40 p.m. CT, after the conclusion of Villanova vs. Mt. Saint Mary’s/New Orleans. CBS will carry the game, meaning it can be live-streamed on CBSSports.com and the CBS Sports apps. Verne Lundquist, Jim Spanarkel and Allie LaForce will have the call. The Badgers enter the Big Dance after reaching the championship game of the Big Ten tournament on Sunday. Wisconsin lost to the Michigan Wolverines 71-56 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.
Virginia Tech lost in the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament to Florida State 74-68 on Thursday. The Hokies entered the tournament as the No. 7 seed in the conference and first defeated No. 10 Wake Forest in the second round before falling to the Seminoles.

Wisconsin and Virginia Tech have met once before, on Dec. 1, 2008, when the Badgers defeated the Hokies in Blacksburg, Va., 74-72.
