Adam Bay is the recruit in this class who in all likelihood will see meaningful snaps first. He’s also the one name that fans will not want to hear on game day. Long snapper is a position of little notoriety—unless something goes wrong.

Bay fills a big need on the Wisconsin Badgers’ roster. With Connor Udelhoven exhausting his eligibility as a senior this past season, the Badgers were left without a long snapper.

Since Paul Chryst took the helm at Wisconsin, we’ve seen an emphasis placed on special teams, as offering scholarships to specialists is typically the exception to the rule. Having done so, the expectation undoubtably is for Bay, an Under Armour All-American, to step in and contribute right much like last year’s situation at punter (Anthony Lotti).

Bay was Wisconsin's 14th commitment for 2017.

B5Q’s Jake Kocorowski wrote in his article about Bay committing:

Bay is rated a two-star prospect by 247, Rivals and Scout, but is a five-star long snapper, the best in the class of 2017, according to Kohl’s Kicking Camps.

Bay was originally committed to Missouri an held offers from Missouri, Memphis, New Mexico and Wyoming while garnering interest from other schools such as Alabama and Arkansas.
