Emmet Perry is an under-the-radar wideout from DeSoto, Texas, who will be looking to fill a need the Wisconsin Badgers have had for some time: a tall, fast wide receiver. Perry went to the same high school as sophomore inside linebacker Chris Orr and will be joining his former teammate in Madison after signing his letter of intent Wednesday to play for the Badgers.

Verbally committed on Oct. 31, 2016

Perry was Wisconsin’s 13th commitment for 2017.

If you take a look at his Hudl video below you’ll notice a rangy receiver who can adjust to a poorly-thrown ball (of which there were a couple. I’m glad Wisconsin didn’t recruit DeSoto’s quarterback) and has good straight-line speed. Perry was a big contributor to DeSoto’s 16-0 Texas 6A Division II state title this year and will look to help the Badgers’ receiving corps that loses Robert Wheelwright and Reggie Love.

B5Q’s Andrew Rosin wrote in his article about Perry committing:

I’m not here to tell you that DeSoto, Tex., three-star prospect Emmet Perry is the next Quintez Cephus, but his Halloween commitment to Wisconsin has more of a chance to be a treat than a trick.

Perry held offers from Bowling Green, North Texas and a handful of FCS schools (Alcorn State, Colgate, Georgetown and Arkansas-Pine Bluff).
