True freshman running back Jonathan Taylor also claimed a second-team selection, with four other Badgers named as honorable mentions.
Edwards earned consensus first-team All-Big Ten honors as well after tying for the team lead in interceptions (four) and for second in tackles for loss (11) with fellow inside linebacker Ryan Connelly. The 6’1, 244-pound backer recorded 75 tackles this season (50 solo, 25 assisted), trailing just Connelly for the team lead.
Taylor has rushed for 1,847 yards, the third-most by a freshman in FBS history, on 6.8 yards per carry. He needs just 78 yards to surpass Adrian Peterson to hold that record when Wisconsin (12–1) takes on Miami (10–2) in the Capital One Orange Bowl on Dec. 30. The Doak Walker Award finalist also gained 1,000 yards in his seventh game, which tied the FBS record for fewest games to that mark by a freshman, which was held by Emmitt Smith, Marshall Faulk, Peterson, Jamario Thomas, and P.J. Hill.
