The Big Ten Conference announced its weekly players of the week on Monday, with two Wisconsin Badgers again earning honors for their performances over the weekend.
Outside linebacker Leon Jacobs was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week and running back Jonathan Taylor is again the conference’s Freshman of the Week following Wisconsin’s win over Iowa on Saturday.
Jacobs shared the award with Iowa cornerback Josh Jackson after recording four tackles, one sack, and two fumble recoveries in the 38–14 win over the Hawkeyes. One of those fumble recoveries included a 21-yard scoop-and-score to give UW a 24–14 lead in the third quarter.
Taylor rushed for 157 yards on 29 carries. It’s the sixth time the Salem, N.J., native has earned this honor, which ties him for second-most in Big Ten history. He trails only Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett for the all-time record.
