No. 1 Wisconsin women’s hockey defeats No. 7 Cornell 3–1

Wisconsin grabbed a quality road win in Ithaca.

No. 1 Wisconsin women’s hockey keeps on rolling.

The Badgers (15–0–0) went on the road Friday, grabbing a quality win in Ithaca against No. 7 Cornell.

Junior forward Sophia Shaver got the scoring started midway through the first period and added a second at the start of second to give Wisconsin a 2–0 lead.

Sophomore forward Alexis Mauermann put Wisconsin up 3–0 before Cornell pulled one back late in the second period. Goaltender Kristen Campbell made 21 saves in the win.

Campbell is now second in the country on the season in goals against average (0.93) and save percentage (.950). As a team, Wisconsin has the country’s second-rated team defense along with a top-10 offense averaging 3.73 goals per game.

Wisconsin and Cornell face off again Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.
