Wisconsin women’s soccer advances in NCAA tournament

The Badgers blitzed Toledo 5–0.

Wisconsin women’s soccer defeated Toledo 5–0 Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Badgers (14–5–2 overall, 6–3–2 Big Ten) scored five second-half goals, all of which came within 20 minutes of each other to defeat the Zips and advance to the next round.

Grace Douglas scored her first two goals as a Badger, beating Toledo keeper Madison Perrin twice in five minutes to give Wisconsin a lead it would never surrender.

Lauren Rice, Jordan McNeese, and Allie Winterfield added goals for Wisconsin in the win. McNeese and Winterfield joined Douglas in scoring their first career goals for Wisconsin. Badgers keeper Caitlyn Clem made three saves.

Wisconsin travels to Columbia on Friday to face top regional seed South Carolina.
