Wisconsin moves up in both AP Top 25, Amway Coaches Poll

A strong showing in Lincoln helps the Badgers take advantage of losses by higher-ranked teams.

The undefeated Wisconsin Badgers rose up in two major polls on Sunday.

Wisconsin (5–0) moved up to No. 7 in the AP Top 25 while bumping up even further in the Amway Coaches Poll up to No. 6 after its 38–17 win over Nebraska on Saturday night.

That’s a two-spot gain in both polls from No. 9 and No. 8 a week ago (AP and coaches, respectively), helped by losses from top-10 teams Oklahoma and Michigan.

SB Nation’s Jason Kirk still has Wisconsin in his College Football Playoff projections, now No. 3 vs. Alabama at the Rose Bowl. Bill Connelly’s S&P+ has the Badgers at No. 7, down three spots.

There are now five Big Ten Conference teams In both polls following Michigan State’s upset win over Michigan. Here’s where the conference teams show up in the AP poll:

  • Penn State (No. 3, up one spot)
  • Wisconsin (No. 7, up two spots)
  • Ohio State (No. 9, up one spot)
  • Michigan (No. 17, down 10 spots)
  • Michigan State (No. 21, previously unranked)

Here’s where they stack up in the coaches poll:

  • Penn State (No. 3, up one spot)
  • Wisconsin (No. 6, up two spots)
  • Ohio State (No. 8, up one spot)
  • Michigan (No. 16, down nine spots)
  • Michigan State (No. 22, previously unranked)
