No. 1 Wisconsin women’s hockey got a stiff test in Mankato Friday, defeating Minnesota State 3–2.
The Badgers (7–0–0 overall, 1–0–0 WCHA) were down 2–1 before rallying for two goals in the third period for the win.
Forward Abby Roque kicked off the scoring just 50 seconds into the game, netting one past Mavericks goaltender Katie Bidulka.
Minnesota State came on strong in the second period, scoring two goals to take the lead.
Wisconsin rallied in the third. Sophomore forward Presley Norby tied the game at 4:53. Junior Sophia Shaver scored the game-winner midway through the third.
Redshirt sophomore goaltender Kristen Campbell made 18 saves for her seventh win of the year.
The Badgers and Mavericks run it back on Saturday in Mankato. Puck drops at 3 p.m.
