"Three-Sack Jack" gets another honor.
After being named to its preseason watch list, Wisconsin Badgers inside linebacker Jack Cichy earned the Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week honors following UW’s 16-14 win over No. 5 LSU on Saturday.
Cichy led the team in tackles (eight) and also recorded a tackle for loss as the Badgers held the Tigers to 257 total yards of offense at Lambeau Field. He also forced a fumble as well.
It’s not the first set of national honors for the Somerset, Wis., native, as he was named the 2015 Holiday Bowl’s defensive player of the game last December in UW’s 23-21 victory over USC.
A B1G congrats to @BadgerFootball's @jackCICHY, who is Week 1’s @LottIMPACTrophy POTW. https://t.co/O0vfwbgsIZ pic.twitter.com/GGOGgZVvn3

Cichy named Lott IMPACT Player of the Week
Wisconsin linebacker key to strong defensive showing in win over LSU
Sept. 6, 2016
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin junior inside linebacker Jack Cichy has been named Lott IMPACT Player of the Week for his efforts in the Badgers’ win over No. 5 LSU last Saturday.
Cichy logged a team-high eight tackles, including one tackle for loss, and forced a fumble as part of a defensive effort that saw the UW defense surrender just seven points and 257 total yards to the Tigers in a 16-14 win at Lambeau Field.
In recognition of Cichy’s performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsor of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to UW’s general scholarship fund.
Like 2010 Lott IMPACT Trophy winner J.J. Watt and award finalist Jim Leonhard, Cichy began his career at Wisconsin as a walk-on before later earning a scholarship. The Somerset native entered the season coming off a Defensive MVP performance in the 2015 Holiday Bowl in which he recorded sacks on three consecutive plays and recorded a team-high nine tackles.
Named after Pro Football Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, the Lott IMPACT Trophy is the first college football award to equally recognize athletic performance and personal character attributes. It is given annually to the player who exhibits the same IMPACT characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
The 13th Lott IMPACT Trophy presentation will be held Dec. 11 in Newport Beach, California.
