MADISON — Wisconsin announced in the third quarter of Saturday’s game against Akron that senior running back Corey Clement was ruled out for the rest of the game with a left leg injury.
Clement ended the day with 111 yards on 21 carries and two rushing touchdowns. He was instrumental in Wisconsin continually wearing down the Akron defense in the first half, when the Badgers out-gained the Zips 365-151 and held the ball for 23 minutes, nine seconds.
On a five-yard rush that was initially ruled a fumble in the second quarter, Clement was tackled and appeared to go to the sidelines to have both ankles taped. The play was later overturned, which led to Wisconsin’s fourth touchdown in the first half. He did not return for the third quarter.
We’ll have more about Clement’s status hopefully in the post-game. Stay tuned to B5Q for more.
