Two of the more promising recruits from Wisconsin’s Gary Andersen era will not be practicing with the team over the summer, as both San Marcos, Calif., redshirt freshman offensive tackle Kevin Estes and Jesup, Ga., redshirt sophomore wide receiver Krenwick Sanders have been left off the 105-man summer camp roster.
This does not mean anything toward their statuses as scholarship athletes or members of the roster once school comes back in session, as rosters can expand further at that juncture. But for a prospect who has had problems keeping on weight like, Estes or a prospect that got lost in the shuffle of the promising wide receiver crops that came behind him like Sanders, this is a missed opportunity to keep up with those at their respective positions.
Ty DeForest to transfer to Illinois State
Marshall, Wis. redshirt freshman walk-on inside linebacker Ty DeForest has decided to continue his career with the Missouri Valley Conference co-champion Redbirds of Illinois State. DeForest had shown flashes of brilliance the past two seasons, intercepting a Bart Houston pass during this spring game, but with the position chock-a-block with skill, DeForest saw the best opportunity for time elsewhere. Best of luck to him.
