Former Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Mark Tauscher has been busy since retiring from professional football. He’s a part-owner of the Isthmus magazine and Red Card, a company that specializes in alternative meal plans for UW-Madison students.

The former walk-on also has stayed close to the game, working as a Packers pregame and postgame analyst for WTMJ Radio while keeping an eye on the Badgers as an analyst for Wisconsin football home games on the radio.

On Monday, ESPN Wisconsin announced Tauscher would join longtime Packers beat writer Jason Wilde on a new radio show starting Aug. 8 from 9-11 a.m. CT. The show, “Wilde & Tausch,” will be simulcast in both the Madison and Milwaukee markets.

Tauscher played 134 games, starting 132, in his 11-year career with the Packers. He was a seventh-round draft choice in 2000 after starting his final year at Wisconsin in 1999, opening holes for the likes of Ron Dayne on the second of consecutive Rose Bowl championship teams.

Wilde has covered the Packers since 1996 for the Wisconsin State Journal, ESPN Wisconsin and ESPN. He is a graduate of UW and a two-time Wisconsin Sportswriter of the Year, selected by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

Tauscher’s story will be one of many from Wisconsin walk-ons featured in the new book Walk-On This Way: The On-Going Legacy of the Wisconsin Walk-On Tradition, on shelves in fall 2016.
