The Wisconsin Badgers currently stand at nine commitments for the football class of 2017, with two transfer prospects awaiting a decision from the admissions office as to whether or not they can join the party. Amazingly, it seems like the Badgers might be in line to get to double digits before April ends as Kernersville N.C., (West Forsythe) three-star cornerback Madison Cone is set to be on campus Friday [ed. note: with the date of this article publishing, that'd be today].
On the trail, Cone has garnered some quality offers from Duke, Mississippi State, and Virginia Tech, among others. Looking at the Hudl on can see why. He has great instincts as to when to close on the ball and he knows how to get an interception at it's highest point. The Opening Regionals in Charlotte listed him as 5'8.5, 177 pounds, with a 40-yard dash that Cone confirmed was a 4.52. That said, the aggression he shows and the lack of false steps he takes he can play above his height and play faster than that 40-time.
The crystal balls have all turned toward Wisconsin in terms of the Badgers landing a commitment from Cone, who per Scout.com, finished his junior campaign with 46 tackles, seven interceptions and 11 pass break-ups. If the Badgers land the commitment, the primary recruiters in this instance would be running backs coach John Settle and defensive backs coach Jim Leonhard.
