Garrett Rand is arguably the Badgers No. 1 defensive recruit in this cycle. He is definitely a player to be excited about, as he recently reaffirmed his commitment in a report from azcentral.com. It seems as if he will be an interior lineman, however do not discount his ability as a pass rusher. He has shown throughout his prep career that he can get into the backfield quickly and often. Scouts and coaches from around the country have also raved about his motor and it seems as if Rand never wants to leave the field. Expect for Arizona defensive lineman to compete for playing time very early on.

Verbally Committed October 1st, 2015

Garrett Rand committed to Wisconsin in early October after the Badgers showed a lot of interest and hosted the talented defensive lineman on campus on the weekend of September 25th. Rand has connections to the state as he has family living in Wisconsin and that proved to be a pivotal drawing card for recruitment.

Rand had quality offers in the double digits, including UCLA, Stanford, in-state programs Arizona and Arizona State, and Washington. Michigan State and USC were also showing major interest but never offered. The Bruins were the other team that really threatened for Rand's word, as Garrett visited them in late January after defensive coordinator Dave Aranda's departure.
