Seth Currens is a rangy, physical safety that fills a need for the Badgers with the graduations of starting safeties Tanner McEvoy and Michael Caputo. Ohio is one of the top states in the country for high school football and the Badgers may have unearthed a talent that Ohio State looked over, a la Chris Borland. Currens played both quarterback and wide receiver for Pickerington Central so he presumably has a good knowledge of the game and better hands than your average defensive back. Looking at the Badgers depth chart at safety for next year and you'll note a lack of playmakers, leaving room for Currens to potentially grab some snaps early in his career.

Verbally committed May 30, 2015

Currens committed last May as the Badgers' fifth commit for 2016. Wisconsin was Currens' highest-profile offer, in addition to Illinois, Bowling Green and a whole host of other MAC teams.

It had been over a month since the Badgers received a commitment when Currens announced that he would be attending Wisconsin, and his commitment quelled some fears that the Badgers were falling behind on the recruiting trail.
