Before they suit up in the cardinal and white, two Wisconsin Badgers commits in the state of Texas ended their prep careers as state champions inside AT&T Stadium.
Class of 2017 wide receivers Emmet Perry and Cade Green won state titles for DeSoto and Lake Travis, respectively, on Saturday in Arlington.
DeSoto (16-0) defeated Steele for the Class 6A Division II state championship 38-29, while Lake Travis (15-1) beat The Woodlands 41-13 for the Class 6A Division I state championship.
Green caught a nine-yard touchdown pass with 8:28 left in the first quarter to start Lake Travis’s scoring. In an amazing stat from the Austin American-Statesmen, it was the 15th straight game the team scored on its opening offensive possession.

Perry, from the same high school as current Wisconsin sophomore inside linebacker Chris Orr, committed to UW on Oct. 31. Per 247Sports, he caught 53 passes for 967 yards with 10 touchdowns in 2016.
Green verbally pledged to the Badgers back in March.
Both three-star recruits will come in to a Wisconsin receiving corp losing seniors Robert Wheelwright and Reggie Love after exhausting their eligibility.
