Welcome to the debut of Walk-On Wisconsin, a series of podcasts highlighting those walk-ons who are making a huge impact on the Wisconsin Badgers football team.

Former UW tight end Joel Nellis and I, for the next several weeks, will break down performances of those “undersized, under-developed and under-recruited” during each game prior, while also previewing which Wisconsin player we look for to have a big game in the upcoming contest.

As a head’s up, Joel and I will be at the University Bookstore on State Street from 11-noon on Saturday, Nov. 12, for a book signing and discussion of Walk-On This Way: The On-Going Legacy of the Wisconsin Football Walk-On Tradition.

This week, I spoke with Wisconsin left tackle Ryan Ramczyk on coming to Madison, his adjustment from UW-Stevens Point to Division I and Big Ten football.

Here’s the order of discussion:

  • Intro (0:00)
  • Joel’s story (2:00)
  • The moment where Joel knew he’d walk on to Wisconsin (5:30)
  • Walk-on contributors in Wisconsin’s 21-7 win: ILB Ryan Connelly, RB Dare Ogunbowale, K Andrew Endicott and kickoff specialist P.J. Rosowski (9:00)
  • Interview with LT Ryan Ramczyk (27:10)
  • Walk-Ons to watch vs. Illinois: Connelly and TE Troy Fumagalli (34:00)

Don’t hesitate to leave us feedback as to what you’d like to hear on this podcast.
