Wisconsin remains No. 6 in College Football Playoff rankings

If the Badgers win Saturday, do they make the playoff?

NCAA Football: Minnesota at Wisconsin Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Wisconsin Badgers remained No. 6 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday night by the selection committee.

UW (10-2, 7-2 Big Ten) sits behind Michigan (10-2, 7-2), who dropped to No. 5 after losing to No. 2 Ohio State (11-1, 8-1).

The Badgers will face Penn State (10-2, 8-1) on Saturday in the Big Ten championship game. The Nittany Lions remain No. 7 after their win over Michigan State last week. Four Big Ten conference teams are in the top seven.

The biggest question is if Wisconsin can catapult over Washington and Michigan if it defeats Penn State. If the Tigers and Huskies both lose their respective conference championship games, the Wolverines, Badgers and Nittany Lions (whomever wins the Big Ten title from the latter two) could be in prime position to sneak into the playoff.
