Add another one to the list of 2017 commits for the Wisconsin Badgers.
Iowa Western Community College defensive end Andrew Van Ginkel committed to Wisconsin on Tuesday, announcing his verbal pledge via Twitter.
The Rock Valley, Iowa, native is listed as a four-star prospect by Rivals and a three-star by Scout and 247Sports.
The 6’4, 240-pound Van Ginkel plays his junior college ball for the Reivers and held offers from Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, West Virginia and Pitt. The Iowa Western official athletic website and all three major recruiting websites list him as a defensive end, though BadgerBlitz.com’s Jon McNamara reported the former South Dakota product is expected to play outside linebacker for the Badgers.
That makes 15 known verbal commitments for the class of 2017 and the second in a busy Tuesday evening after New Jersey standout Jonathan Taylor committed to Wisconsin. DeSoto, Texas, wide receiver Emmet Perry also committed to the Badgers on Monday night, while longsnapper Adam Bay verbally pledged on Sunday.
That’s just for the 2017 class. Before Wisconsin’s 23-17 win over Nebraska, 2018 safety Trent Ingalls committed to the Badgers.
