Wisconsin football recruiting: RB Jonathan Taylor commits to Badgers

The fastest high school athlete in New Jersey flips from Rutgers to Wisconsin.

When it comes to Wisconsin Badgers running backs from the state of New Jersey, there’s a pedigree. You have Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne. You have a very talented running back when he’s healthy in Corey Clement. And now, you have one of the most intriguing 2017 three-star prospects in the country in Salem, N.J., running back Jonathan Taylor, who committed to the Badgers on Tuesday.

NJ.com, 247Sports, Rivals and Scout all reported Taylor’s commitment to Wisconsin.

I’ve broken down the skill set before. The laser-timed 4.42-second 40-yard dash. Multiple state titles on the track. An ability to run with balance and power that allows him to break tackles and break away once he gets to the second level. He’s also been learning how to cut once and go, because when he goes, it always has the potential to be special.

Going into his visit to Madison for the Ohio State game earlier this month, Taylor was committed to Rutgers, but with the Badgers working hard to get the commitment and the Scarlet Knights finding out just how long the road to respectability is going to be, the Badgers earned the flip.

Taylor joins cornerback Faion Hicks as Wisconsin football players who committed after visiting for the Ohio State game. Taylor also received offers from Boston College, Temple and Virginia Tech, among others.
