A potentially promising recruiting weekend for Wisconsin starts early.
Menasha, Wis., safety Trent Ingalls committed to Wisconsin on Saturday, joining River Rouge, Mich., safety Reggie Pearson for the class of 2018. BadgerNation.com’s Ben Worgull first reported the commitment, and Ingalls later updated his Twitter profile to reflect his verbal commitment.
Currently rated a three-star recruit by Scout but unranked by 247Sports and Rivals, the 6’1, 175-pound Ingalls was one of the many prospects who came to Camp Randall Stadium for the Ohio State game earlier this month.
What Ingalls provides is a sideline-to-sideline skillset as a centerfielder-like free safety. He has the athleticism to potentially stick as a cornerback, but he definitely knows how to close on a pass and make a play. He’s also shown himself to be useful on the blitz and is more than willing to play downhill and attack the run.
Wisconsin was Ingalls’s first and only offer, but Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota and Purdue showed interest.
