Wisconsin senior point guard Bronson Koenig was named to one of the nation’s premier preseason lists on Monday afternoon as he was among the 20 candidates nominated to the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award watch list.
It is the second year Koenig has been selected to the preseason watch list. Koenig averaged 13.9 points and 2.4 assists per game last season while shooting 39 percent from three-point range and earning third-team All-Big Ten honors.
Koenig enters the season needing just 71 points and 27 assists to become the 14th player in school history to post career totals of 1,000 points and 250 assists.
The list of nominees for the Cousy Award will be cut down to 10 in February and then to five finalists in March. Former Badgers guards Jordan Taylor and Devin Harris were finalists in 2011 and 2004, respectively.
