The Wisconsin Badgers' defense shined in the Holiday Bowl win over USC. Recognizing the efforts of Dave Aranda's crew in his final game as Wisconsin defensive coordinator, ESPN named linebacker Jack Cichy and safety Michael Caputo to its Big Ten All-Bowl team, as well as kicker Rafael Gaglianone. Here's what ESPN had to say about each player:
Cichy: "Who saw this coming? The little-known linebacker had three sacks in a row vs. USC to help seal the Badgers' win in the National Funding Holiday Bowl."
Caputo: "The senior safety had seven tackles and a pair of pass breakups as the Badgers kept USC in check.
Gaglianone: "Everyone's favorite Brazilian kicker hit all three of his field-goal attempts against USC, including the game-winner."
All three of these guys were critical to the Badgers' season-ending victory, and it's a nice honor to be chosen to this team. The Big Ten had a number of standout bowl performances, so to be recognized above the rest was a nice tip of the hat to these three. Congratulations, guys!
