Could the Wisconsin Badgers have an opportunity with a key running back recruit after all?

After initially closing down other offers and sticking with his verbal commitment to the Stanford Cardinal, Plano, Texas, native and three-star running back Brandon Stephens reopened his recruitment on Thursday night. 247Sports' Ryan Bartow initially reported Stephens' decision.

Per Bartow, Stephens ranked Alabama No. 2 behind Stanford before his initial verbal, and the Crimson Tide even had an in-house meeting with the No. 20 running back in the nation earlier this week.

The 6'0.5, 201-pound recruit, ranked as a four-star prospect by, should have plenty of programs chasing for his collegiate services, including Wisconsin. The Badgers offered Stephens, as have Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Ohio State.

With Illinois standout Sam Brodner visiting this weekend and Stephens back on the commitment market, could Wisconsin find two promising backs in this year's class?

Garrett Rand to visit UCLA, per report

Per a report from's Bruin Report Online, Wisconsin commit and four-star defensive lineman Garrett Rand will visit UCLA this weekend.

The 6'2.5, 275-pound Rand noted during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl week that he was watching the Wisconsin defensive coordinator search. The news is concerning, but with Wisconsin not yet announcing a replacement to Dave Aranda, Rand needs to do what's best for him and where he'll spend the next four-five years of his career.

Stay tuned to B5Q if more develops, both in terms of recruiting these student athletes and the UW defensive coordinator search.
