Andy van Vliet, a 6'10 forward from Belgium, officially signed his Letter of Intent with Wisconsin, the Badgers announced on Monday. His admission to UW wasn't necessarily ever in doubt, but the logistics of the application process for international students dragged out the formalities of van Vliet's signing.
From UW's press release, which you can read here:
"Wisconsin men’s basketball coach Bo Ryan announced on Monday that Andy Van Vliet has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Wisconsin and play basketball for the Badgers. He will join the roster beginning in the fall of 2015.
"We are excited to have Andy join an outstanding class of incoming freshmen," Ryan said. "Andy possesses many of the characteristics that have been successful with the other big men that have played in our program. He is a skilled, versatile player who has terrific work ethic. He made his intentions known early on that Wisconsin is where he wanted to be and we are excited he is joining our basketball family."
Van Vliet joins Wisconsin’s Class of 2015 that already includes Alex Illikainen (Grand Rapids, Minn.), Khalil Iverson (Delaware, Ohio), Brevin Pritzl (De Pere, Wis.) and Charlie Thomas (Clarksville, Md.)."
